At their disposal, RUVDS clients have the company's own data center. RUVDS has a long-term lease agreement for the data center, situated at the following address: Moscovskaya oblast, Korolev, Pionerskaya st. 4.
The facility consists of a set of several air sealed independent rooms (containment areas). Data center premises have been certified in accordance with FSTEC requirements and were designed to fit TIER III reliability category, in compliance with TIA-942 (N+1 redundancy with fault tolerance of 99,98%).
Datacenter have the control room, utility rooms, diesel generators and other systems. The available reserves make it possible to promptly increase the size of the data center and electric power supply capacity at least twofold. Average energy consumption per rack now stands at approximately 15 kWh.
The data center uses N+1 redundancy system. It disposes of three physical carriers with bandwidth of 10Gbps each and access to major communication nodes M9 and M10. There are over 15 internet providers operating based on these physical carriers. This guarantees high speed VDS to the customers: not lower than 100 Mbps.
Each rack contains up to 42 servers and every server has up to 400 Gb RAM and data storage subsystem of up to 7 Tb and provides services to up to 100 clients.
Guaranteed uninterrupted power supply system is based on the classical scheme. Two substations provide the data center with electricity using two independent lines. The facility has UPS and DDG systems installed (N+1 redundancy scheme).
Every physical server is connected to an uninterrupted power supply unit. Should these components fail, the diesel generator will start, providing the data center with electricity until the problem with the substation is resolved.
Automatic transfer switch provides backup, switching between substations and the diesel generator. It quickly transfers the load to the diesel generator after the outer (city) grid is disconnected.
Diesel generator unit and DDG fuel storage facility can support autonomous operation of the data center without any additional refuelling for 24 hours, while prompt fuel delivery contract makes it possible to stretch out this time frame even further.
Electric power distribution is based on 2N redundancy scheme. Every rack cabinet with equipment is connected to two grids; consequently, servers with two power supply units can be connected to both grids at the same time. The resulting electric power supply infrastructure allows to allocate up to 30 kWt per rack.
Each containment area is equipped with gaseous fire suppression system which ensures smooth functioning of servers even in case of fire. One containment area occupies around 25 sq. m. The system is gaseous (HFC-based) and is integrated with a fire alarm system (with early warning and temperature sensors). Inlet air ventilation system filters the air that flows into the area and maintains excess pressure in the room. It protects the equipment against external factors and dust.
Containment area is an isolated room with a dual-loop cooling system and a dedicated gaseous fire suppression system. A containment area has two rows of 10 open racks.
Organizing our space into independent containment areas allowed us to significantly cut spending on gaseous fire suppression system while maintaining a high level of security. It takes only one cylinder to extinguish fire in a room.
Each containment area is equipped with a video monitoring and physical access control system. On average, one containment area has 20 racks with 42 servers each.
All containment areas and service rooms are under video surveillance. There are also video surveillance systems installed throughout all access perimeters.
There are four layers of security for access control. The first is a closed area, kept under 24/7 surveillance by the Interior Ministry of Russia and restricted access area where RuVDS data center is located. The second is a restricted access area of RuVDS data center under the surveillance of a private security company. The third is inside the data center. The fourth is provides for restricted access to each containment area via a keycard.
Data center is equipped with three independent cooling systems (water, air, and inlet air ventilation with air cleaning) and humidity maintenance system for containment areas, keeping the humidity levels at 40-50%.
RUVDS data center has a water damage and flood protection system. The security layes of the data center are highly waterproof and the data center itself has hydraulic pumps with N+1 redundancy and water damage sensors installed, combined with double roofs that have special drainage systems.
In the data centers, there are on duty experts providing technical support 24/7. Servers and infrastructure are monitored manually and automatically under the supervision of our employees. We regularly conduct power supply system testing.
RUVDS data center is popular with large corporations, BKS Company and JSC FINAM in particular, and a whole range of other commercial entities, too. Coworking 14, a recently launched socially responsible project, also uses the virtual servers provided by RUVDS. Using high-tech equipment allows the hosting provider to render various services.

ZUR1 data center has direct access to the SwissIX Internet Exchange Point (IEP) in Switzerland and to the NL-IX in Europe.
Interxion is a leading provider of colocation data center services across Europe. The company’s data centers operate 50 reliable data centers in 13 cities. Its clients include Nasdaq and a multitude of public companies. Interxion completed its IPO on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the symbol “INXN” in 2011.
RUVDS launched its own containment area with the support of Huawei at the Interxion data center in Zurich. As a rule, VDS/VPS prices in Zurich do not differ from virtual server prices in other RUVDS data centers in London and Moscow. All RUVDS customers can choose a virtual server in the data center that is best fit for their purposes and pay the same low price for it.
ZUR1 data center is distinguished by a high degree of network connectivity due to its direct access to SwissIX IEP and its proximity to international financial centers in Europe. It ensures high-speed access to resources and can reach 80 percent of Europe in 30ms round trip (round-trip delay).
ZUR1 is a specially constructed and highly reliable data center in the center of Zurich with its own conference halls and offices. It is one of many modern Interxion data centers located in key cities across Europe, which offer a full spectrum of premium class services.
The data center is based on 2N redundancy scheme and N+1 design (cooling) with highest fault tolerance of 99,999% SLA (higher than the TIER 4 standard). The data center ensures not only fault tolerance, but also supports a special microclimate in each of the containment areas. The levels of humidity and temperature required for best equipment functioning are guaranteed by SLA.
Interxion’s high internal company standards ensure stored data security and confidentiality. Interxion ZUR1 has five layers of physical security with trained security staff on site 24/7. All the data center rooms and its territories are monitored by indoor and outdoor surveillance cameras. They are also equipped with multiple motion sensors. Camera footage from the data center is displayed on security services monitors 24/7.
Each Interxion data center uses a variety of security tools, control and monitoring procedures, as well as access control. Once a visitor enters the data center area using a magnetic access card, they get to the reception, where they receive a magnetic card once their credentials are verified. Then, in order to get inside the elevator, they need to do a fingerprint scan.
Identification systems are installed at every stage. The visitor goes up in an elevator, then uses the card and their personal code to enter into the so-called man trap. The man trap is a fully enclosed room designed to “trap” those inside it. Entry is allowed only if the visitor goes through the identification and authorization processes, as well as fingerprint scanning, for the second time.
To ensure maximum security of the equipment, all servers at the data center are organized in racks, which are located in separate cages. Each cage has its own access system, video surveillance, volume change and motion sensors. Not only the racks, but also the entrance to each containment area is equipped with authorization systems, which consist of magnetic card and fingerprints verification.
The customers’ equipment is located in areas with climate control. The relevant temperature and humidity parameters are included into SLA. All equipment is located on raised floor, which is part of the dual-cycle cooling system. From 24/7 monitoring and alarms for every critical system to incident management and business continuity management, the company follows best practices and operates in full accordance with the ITILv3 framework.
Power for ZUR1 is supplied by two independent power stations from different suppliers. Two power feeds for all equipment, each independently equipped with UPS and diesel generator backup. In case of public utility outages, the UPS automatically switches to batteries. The system simultaneously sends a signal to start the diesel generator. In less than a minute, the equipment regains operational capacity and the data center is powered by the diesel generator and not by batteries. The diesel generator has full load capacity for indefinite running of the data center.
In accordance with strict Swiss regulations, the data center is equipped with Very Early Smoke Detection Aspiration system (VESDA) for maximum safety and security. The range of system’s sensitivity is from 0,005% to 20% of smoke detected in one meter of air. VESDA detects smoke in the early stage using continuous air sampling via a network of highly efficient aspirating PVC tubes.
The data center in Zurich uses renewable energy and is certified by Myclimate, a climate protection organization, as the only green data center based in Switzerland. The data center has free cooling systems and cold aisle cooling. This has allowed to cut cooling expenses by 30%.
In order to ensure that the data center is indeed green, it employs INERGEN, which is a gaseous fire suppression system. INERGEN is an environmentally friendly extinguishing agent, consisting of gases which are already present naturally in the earth’s atmosphere. INERGEN is non-toxic and non-flammable; it does not harm the environment, equipment or any other objects.

Private Cage
Each Equinix data center uses multiple security tools, as well as control, monitoring and object access provision methods and procedures.
Entrance to Equinix LD8 is provided only to those in possession of an ID with a photo. The reception issues a card provided that an access ticket has been ordered beforehand. Then using the card you pass through the first turnstile and get to the elevator.
You go up, and then use the card and your personal code to enter into the so-called man trap. The door closes behind you. The man trap contains a retina scanner. If the user is registered in the system, than another door opens and you pass.
You pass through the man trap, and now you are facing a steel door. You need to use the card once again to access the Private Cage. Here we find a steel cage along the perimeter, but to enter the cage through the door you need to type in the personal code (not the one previously used). You place our hands on the hard-print scanner, pass the card through the reader and only then do you enter our own cage. If you fail to enter the right code three times or your hand print is not recognized three times in a row, than the system blocks the user for 30 minutes. Thus strangers can access under no circumstances.
The LD8 makes use of the most reliable heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. 40kVA (A+B) is allocated for every rack and there are 9 racks in total.
VDS/VPS prices in London traditionally do not differ from other virtual servers prices at other available RUVDS data centers. This gives our customers an opportunity to choose the best location for a VS in the data center which fits them the most.
Battery Room
LD8 data center is equipped with UPS and redundancy systems with N+1. If there is a power outage, than UPS batteries are activated within 8 seconds. Diesel generators are installed outside. They are tested twice a month at full load.

Power supply system is a unique feature and a matter of pride for Linxdatacenter. The system uses highly-efficient on-site gas turbines. Main supply comes from two gas engine generator stations while backup supply is provided by a diesel generator and the city power station.
Power supply using a gas engine generator station is more reliable than supply from the city power station. The data center’s power supply comes from two gas engine generator stations and one backup power terminal to the city gas engine generator station. N+1 redundancy scheme.
The data center uses only class A equipment. UPS with 2N redundancy scheme. All the equipment has two power terminals and each is independently equipped with UPS and backup power supply from a diesel generator. Should power supply from the gas engine generator stations fail, the system automatically switches to power storage batteries.
Once the power storage batteries are activated, the diesel generator is launched. The equipment reaches operational capacity in a minute. Then the data center starts to run off the diesel generator and not the batteries.
The data center is equipped with three Cummins diesel-powered generator sets with N+1 redundancy scheme. There are agreements in place on diesel generator fuel supply with two independent suppliers of oil products.
Cooling system is based on the concept of free cooling. It is double-circuit, with chillers, precision air conditioners and free cooling. 2N and N+1 redundancy scheme
Linxdatacenter is unique in its usage of absorption cooling equipment (chillers). Chillers use heat produced by the gas engine generator station. Water is cooled as a result of various chemical reactions and only 30 kW is used for cooling purposes. This approach which uses free cooling technologies (if the temperature falls below +5°C, dry cooling tower is used) provides for high energy efficiency of the data center: PUE stands at 1,33 with full workload.
Linxdatacenter has 6 access levels to ensure physical security. Security services work 24/7 and inspect the facilities every 2 hours. All areas and facilities of the data center are monitored through outer and inner video surveillance systems by the security services 24/7.
The data center security system includes an automated key release system based on biometric data, access control system based on electronic passes and biometric data, and installation of additional customer security circuits.
To ensure the highest level of fire safety, the data center is equipped with VESDA early smoke detection system. The data center also has automatic gas fire-extinguishing system FM 200. The FM 200 (HFC-227ea, heptafluoropropane) does not conduct electricity and is most efficient when extinguishing fires at facilities equipped with sophisticated electrotechnical equipment.
It is important to note that such gas is safe for people to breath. Residual concentration of oxygen after the release stands at 18–19%. The gas is also a highly efficient agent for voluminous gas fire suppression of a room space.
